U r saying that nothing exists right now which is better, than technical analysis. I would say there r some models out there, which r superior, than tech analysis models. They are fundamental analysts' model and DCF model (Gordon model). Unlike tech analysis they incorporate new data about a company into the analysis, which provides a more accurate estimates of stock intrinsic value.

About headline trading:
Given the level of todays technologies headline trading makes sense, the INternet literally 'brings u to the floor'. That's it, u can get info almost at the same time as floor dudes do. I'm using headline trading, and my return for the past month was as high as 42%. Taking into account, that I was using delayed news u could estimate, if there is any sense in headline trading.
